PARTS OF YOUR HEAD

This activity was created to help your primary first grade students to acquire vocabulary.

First of all, students have to watch this image in order to learn the names of each part of our head.

After this, they have to complete this crossword activity created with Hotpotatoes.

  1. Hello, I've just done an activity like this today at my 1st year class. We ended with a little game: First one to touch your mouth! Your nose or whatever.
I think it is a useful thing to do with this type of students.
    Congratulations on the idea

  2. It’s a very good activity. Congratulations Magda.
Firstly, they can learn each part of the body. Although there’re body parts videos for children that could be also a good idea to show them, I really like the image because they can take their time and focus in each part of the body.
Secondly, they can practise the names with a crossword. From my experience, they enjoy doing crossword. It’s a nice task for children.

  3. I really amuse doing your crossword activity. I think that students will enjoy it, using the hints, thinking and finally writing the correct word. In my own opinion it is a good way to start focusing on the writing skill. They will notice that in English we don´t write and read the same, as in our language. They must be aware of it.

    Congratulations!!

    Regards,
    Rai.

  4. I like the activity because is very visual and kids love pictures. We can tell our students to point their nose, their eyes, their ears, etc, and also to do it one student to another student. Finally, they love to do crosswords and they will be motivated to do it well. I think this activity is great to start working the body parts. This activity will motivate them because after this activity they will be waiting for another activity like this one.

  5. Hello Magda!

Even that learning vocabulary through songs it’s a widely and long time used technique, I find it as the best way of doing.
Even so, choosing a well known song with an appropriate message and an understandable voice expression is not easy. But I see that you have than a great work choosing this song.
